Pain & mobility

I tried a lot of pain relief without much success. If you are in pain like I was, try acupuncture.
I did and what a difference it made –
I am now able to walk further than I have for a long time.
I would like to thank my acupuncturist Richard Gibbons for all the help I have had.

Psoriasis

I started suffering with psoriasis on the soles of my feet in my early 30s and for over a year the doctor was unable to diagnose or offer me much relief. After numerous topical and other treatments the dermatological consultant offered me 2 stark choices of different drug treatments with unpleasant potential side effects including infertility and liver and kidney failure. I was very down and didn’t want to go down this route for a skin problem. Instead I turned to acupuncture with Richard and within only 3 sessions from being in constant pain and finding it difficult to walk my symptoms were almost gone. I continue to have treatments every 2 – 4 weeks and these keep my psoraisis at bay. I feel much better in myself and am an advocate of acupuncture – I recommend it to all my friends.

Pain & mobility

Richard’s acupuncture treatment for the pain from my sacral insufficiency made the difference between not being able to walk and becoming mobile again.

Disabling Pain before commonwealth games:

My tennis elbow came to light after digging out some roots in the garden when I simply thought I had strained a muscle in my arm. I thought a few days rest and it would ease but it didn’t, it got worse and soon was experiencing pain all the way from my elbow to my fingers in my right arm. I was even finding it hard to click my mouse when at work. What made things harder and more frustrating for me was that as an athlete competing in Fencing it was the arm I used to hold my sword, and simply found I could not do any training due to the pain in my arm. I went to my GP initially for some advice and help but none of the recommendations worked so I was starting to run out of ideas, especially as I was meant to be training for the Fencing Commonwealth Games. A couple of people had suggested acupuncture to me, but initially I didn’t think anything of it as didn’t believe it would work.
But then I did some research and found Richard. What a game changer. After just a couple of sessions I could feel a positive difference, And I then knew acupuncture was the right way forward. There were never any guarantees from Richard but what I got was an honest commitment that he would do whatever he could to help. After some further sessions I found I wasn’t experiencing pain when sleeping at night, it was easier to hold a glass in my hand and I could actually do some training, which was very important to me. Richard took time to get to know me, the issues I was experiencing and the impact it was having on me as an individual in my day to day life and as an athlete. With his support, knowledge and experience I was able to get to a position where I could compete at the Fencing Commonwealth Games with a pain level I could manage. It gave me the confidence to compete at the level I wanted to and incredibly I came away with a Bronze and Gold in the 2 events I competed in.
I am continuing to have sessions with Richard as it is simply continuing to relieve the pressure in my arm and get me back to normal. Thank you Richard.

Long standing neuropathic pain:

After the Acupuncture Treatment….
Having had a variety of other treatments the only thing that has both physically and emotionally benefitted my condition has been acupuncture. The pain relief is almost immediate. A greater sense of energy and optimism grows within 24 hours. The treatment itself for this condition is uncomfortable but the severe pain/pins and needles and some of the numbness vanishes almost immediately. For anyone living with constant pain I would recommend acupuncture specifically Richard Gibbons in an instant
Some weeks later:
Since my discectomy 6 weeks ago I have been swimming a mile a day to raise money for spinal injuries. I feel terrific! I would like to thank you for helping me through such a difficult time.

Frozen Shoulder pain & mobility:
My mum, sister and myself have had Frozen Shoulder,. We have all had different treatment for this. My mum had physiotherapy, my sister had cortisone Injections and physiotherapy, but neither worked for her and she decided to let it get better on its own, which took three years before full movement was restored. I decided to try acupuncture, having read that it helps. I contacted Richard and have now received nine sessions and following months of not being able to sleep due to pain, I can now sleep on my shoulder, movement is returning and I am pleased to say the pain has all but gone. I have also been doing gentle exercises that have helped.

Stress & tension:

Acupuncture is a stabiliser in a very busy life. I have found that regular treatment for stress and tension, from Richard Gibbons, for the last few years has given me an opportunity to stop and reflect on whatever help I need, either emotional or physical. It’s great to know that I can rely on acupuncture from Richard to help put back what life has been taken out in a calm and comforting way. Thank you, Richard!

Skin (eczema like problems), Insomnia, Emotional wellbeing.

I first sought help for a skin condition similar to eczema which despite several prescriptions from my GP, still hadn’t cleared and was beginning to affect my confidence. A friend suggested I try acupuncture and recommended Richard. I started out as a complete sceptic, but thought that I didn’t have anything to lose as the conventional medicine was not working.
Richard is very calming and centred and he listens intently. It is quite different from visiting your GP, as Richard does not necessarily offer a spoken solution, but uses his acupuncture skills to treat the problem. The patient therefore needs to understand that they may not walk out of their first appointment with a cure, but to trust that during the course of treatment their body is treated as a whole, not just their specific problem.
Over the course of two years I have continued to have regular acupuncture sessions. My skin is now completely clear with very few flare-ups. Richard has also treated my insomnia with great results, but perhaps the most significance for me has been in the treatment of my emotional wellbeing throughout a difficult period of my life, for which I will always be grateful.

Chronis sinusitis, lack of taste & smell, Sleep, Well being:

I first consulted Richard Gibbons 7 years ago. I was at the end of my tether. I had been suffering from a chronic sinus problem for over 10 years, even an operation had helped very little. I slept very badly, had an atrocious cough and almost constant catarrh.
Acupuncture has improved my quality of life hugely. Firstly my sleep patterns have been transformed, even if I wake up in the middle of the night I go back to sleep promptly, my cough and catarrh are less troublesome and my senses of taste and smell which I lost on a regular basis are fully restored. Acupuncture also makes me feel more relaxed and maintains a sense of well-being, an unexpected bonus! Many friends have also commented on how greatly my sinus problem has improved.

Stomach disorders, Tension, Clarity:
Become more balanced, more relaxed, tension disappears from my face. I feel lighter in the short term. In the long term, my stomach disorders have eased greatly. It calms me down, enables me to gain perspective, my head is becoming clearer and there is more clarity in the direction I am taking in life. There is more than just direct benefit. There is also being listened to, feeling heard. The calmness of the centre and the room. The time, patience and care. The conversation. It all adds up and it all helps. Thank you.

Chronic fatigue:

I have been having Acupuncture for the last 10 months and it has greatly helped alleviate my symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome. I have improved dramatically over a short period of time, which is rare with this illness.
